Pricing cabinetry can be a very confusing issue. On first glance you may think it is just a box with doors and shelves but keep in mind this article is written from an artist's perspective. A quality cabinet in reality can be composed of hundreds of parts. (See below) Each part is hand crafted with great attention to detail. Cabinetry and woodwork make a house something to be proud of.
Plans
Possibly the most important part of a quality built in cabinet is the plan. Carpenters all too often do a project on the fly and then wonder why there are discrepancies between their vision of the project and the customer's vision of the project.
Don't do it! Don't skip the drawings.
If you are investing in some sort of a built in structure insist on a plan that is clean, concise and easy to understand.
We provide plans and basic 3D renderings.

A 3D rendering can help relay the idea of the overall feel of how the project will look when completed.
A basic 3D rendering is a block drawing of sort that can be done quickly. It's purpose is not so much to capture detail as to get a glimpse of how the built-in works in the proposed space.

Anatomy of a Cabinet
Believe it or not, this cabinet is composed of over 400 parts not including fasteners. The picture below includes much of the terminology of the components of a cabinet.

Finish
A cabinet can have a breathtaking finish or a mediocre finish. Very few carpenters can achieve the breathtaking finish. The breathtaking finish looks three dimensional and keeps the eye off guard.

Like dissonance in music makes the ear long for more, the layers of a good finish compel the eye to keep looking. Although they match, the layers compete with one another for attention. Some are more prominent in daylight. Some are more prominent at night. This combination of affects is called "chatoyance" meaning like cat's eyes.
It is impossible to achieve this with Minwax and Polyurethane alone. Paint stores and home centers woefully lack the materials required.
A truly beautiful finish is art. Art requires an artist.
Price

This all mahogany cabinet with the specialty finish would cost approximately
